Role Summary:

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of health, safety and environmental programs to maintain full compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as internal and external business requirements and driving continuous improvement
  • Influence and mentor facility leadership toward the strengthening of an Interdependent HSE Culture
  • Develops procedures based on regulatory and/or client requirements.
  • Develop, prepare and present regular updates to facility leadership on key HSE performance indicators
  • Facilitate incident investigations as well as the development and assessment of corrective and preventative actions
  • Analyze incident and near miss trends to identify emerging issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Serve as HSE specialist for process hazard analyses, management of change, incident investigation, hot work permitting, emergency planning and response.
  • Strategizing communication plans around audit programs internally and HSE management system rollout
  • Presents information and responds to questions or concerns from employees, managers, clients and the general public.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies and/or community groups.
  • Responsible for both Calgary, AB and LeDuc, AB facilities (35% travel)
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, environmental science, or other relevant field
  • Thorough understanding of NEB, Alberta OHSA, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Experience in root cause investigation techniques 
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Designation as a CRSP/CSP, CIH, CHMM
  • 5 + years’ experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment
