Essential Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for the mechanical maintenance and repair of process equipment and machinery within the chemical manufacturing plant 
  • Install plant equipment, ensuring safe operation in accordance manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Ensure all maintenance operations are carried out in accordance with quality specifications.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in line with all HSE requirements and procedures.
  • Prepare job thoroughly to minimise 'downtime'.
  • Work with other departments, being knowledgeable of their requirements/standards, and to work towards a common business objective.
  • Train and coach apprentices as well as others when required.
  • Investigate and propose better, faster and safer methods of working as well as proposing improvements to the overall manufacturing process
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are logged, recorded, and fed back into the maintenance system.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements: 
  • Time served mechanical apprenticeship
  • Experience of mechanical engineering in a maintenance function.
  • Knowledge of Maintaining & servicing machinery within a chemical manufacturing industry
Desired Characteristics: 
  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), or ONC with post apprenticeship on site experience in a maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of maintenance of rotating and liquid handling equipment within a chemical manufacturing plant
  • Knowledge of DSEAR
  • COMAH awareness
