The Lead NDT Application Specialist will be responsible for the development of Ultrasonic NDT inspections solutions / applications ranging from procedure development through device design and test. The areas of focus would include data acquisition using Conventional and Phased Array Ultrasound as well as ultrasound transducer design, prototyping and testing to deliver custom inspection solutions to our NDT customers.
The candidate will be focused on creating integrated application solutions to solve inspection applications for our customers aligned with industry codes and standards and based on emerging trends and needs in the NDT industry. The Lead NDT Application Specialist will be required to participate in industry code committees, understand new inspection trends and needs, then translate those into specifications and manufacturable designs and inspection solutions.
In the role of Lead NDT Application Specialist you will:Possess NDT Industry experience in the area of Ultrasound. Ultrasound inspection and applications development would be ideal
Provide quotations for special products, design and oversee their construction, test/tune and validate for their intended installation. Frequent interaction with customers, sales teams, engineering and product management on development of special UT solutions
Work closely with engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and all documentation is properly prepared for hand-off to production
Support manufacturing by conducting testing & tuning of UT devices in accordance with engineering specifications
Support design and manufacturing growth opportunities as assigned with the primary focus on Ultrasonic transducers and solutions, but with possible inclusion of Eddy Current, and Remote Visual inspection technologies
Manage NDT development projects while adhering to project schedules and performance requirements
Execute with support and guidance from GEIT NDT COE’s the analysis, design, test and/or integration required to manage and support the assigned projects to meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
Provide technical leadership to internal and external customers as assigned
Document products and technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or university
Minimum 3 years of NDT experience including a minimum 1 year of ultrasound experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in project management
ASNT Level II or III equivalency
Knowledge of UT probe design and fabrication techniques and industrial NDT applications
Experience with Industry Code committee specification writing or in developing NDT applications
Knowledge of standard system integration
Experience with NDT inspection systems
Proficiency with the design, test/tune and analysis tools relevant to the function
Computer literate with experience using 3D software – specifically SolidWorks
Beneficial Skills include: Mechanical Design; Broad understanding of mechanical principles; Knowledge of machining practices; Electronics and Electro-mechanics; Six Sigma / Lean experience or certifications
Significant experience relevant to indicated position area of expertise
Practical, hands-on experience in one or more of the following NDT modalities (UT,ET,RVI)
Minimum 5 years of hands on multi-modality NDT expertise desirable
NDT field inspection experience highly desirable – with an emphasis on power generation, oil & gas or aerospace
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Project management experience
MS Word, Excel, CAD, and SAP SW experience
Requires high energy, assertiveness, and self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment with limited direction
Individual must be a self-starter, creative and strategic thinker who has a passion for products, customers and NDT inspection
Highly customer centric, strong technical aptitude with the ability to execute and drive results
