Role Summary:
The Master Planner will be responsible for the forecasting activities and inventory operational plan. Main goal is to define correct inventory and capacity levels in the long-term period, to ensure Supply Chain has resources available to execute projects, NPIs, and to meet the aftermarket business needs. At the same time, the master planner must ensure the inventory meets the financial, turns and E&O business targets.

Essential Responsibilities:
The master planner will periodically review and align the forecast with Sales team and Product line leaders, and be the liaison between ITO team and supply chain team at the execution level.

In the role of Master Planner, you will:

  • Be responsible for the Forecasting process through the functions to ensure correct material and capacity
  • Lead forecast meetings with ITO and OTR teams to ensure total alignment across multiple functions
  • Lead actions to improve forecasting process and ensure its high accuracy
  • Build and maintain the production plan / master schedule and ensure a consistent handoff of planning information to the projects planning team
  • Liaise with all departments Sales, PM’s, Engineers, Buyers, Planners and Production to ensure material and capacity to support the production plan / master schedule plans
  • Monitor performance on backlog execution, check attachment to the production plan / master schedule and report results to the leadership
  • Interface with CSR and Sales to identify customer needs, competitor’s strengths and implement changes to ensure competitiveness
  • Support supply chain on driving budget and P&E investment based on resources needed to execute the production plan / master schedule
  • Carry out slotting activities for new units in the ITO phase, especially for Short Cycle requests
  • Share slot plan with ITO teams thru regular meetings. Discuss actions to level production
  • Identify bottlenecks and manage production plan / master schedule according to demands and Supply Chain
  • Defining inventory Operational Plan with local finance team and Global Inventory Leaders
  • Support weekly inventory review and quarter ending estimations balance. Understand drivers and areas for improvement, to ensure attachment to operational plan
  • Achieve inventory financial and inventory turn plans
  • Coordinate cross-functional Inventory reduction initiatives and continue to drive year-over-year turn-over improvements
  • Approve safety stock requests and strategic materials plans
  • Support quarter closing efforts by providing metrics and analyzing opportunities for improvement
  • Identify buy items that need to be forecasted and share it with strategic suppliers and sourcing team
  • Input correct materials forecast in ERP (including safety stocks, minimum quantities and lot size), ensure the correct planning parameters in material master, track purchasing process and inventory level. Ensure actuals are aligned to OP
  • Monitor SMI/E&O during the quarter and take actions to reduce it
  • Validate SMI list with finance team in the end of each quarter
  • Identify correct destination for each item reserved in E&O list and solve the list in current the quarter (scrap, discount, keep in stock, send back to supplier, etc)
  • Support discounts, marketing and promotion initiatives with Sales team, especially on SMI and Excess inventory
  • Have a trained eye for quickly identifying and resolving process waste and variation
  • Pursue data clean up and build process to maintain data cleaning in SAP

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a materials position

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience on ERP system
  • APICS certification
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Macros
  • Previous experience in a master planning, forecast or S&OP position
  • Experience in SAP
  • Knowledge of control systems equipment
  • Six Sigma Trained or Equivalent Quality training; Green Belt certified (GE employees only)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to perform under pressure/against tight deadlines
  • Strong Analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time in order to meet delivery deadlines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills
