Role Summary:
The Automation Technician Apprentice will service and maintain Lufkin Automation equipment under the direct supervision of the lead Automation Technician and/or Field Service Manager.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Automation Technician Apprentice you will:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical / electronic equipment
  • Perform on-site installation of electrical / electronic equipment, conduit, etc.
  • Use various electronic equipment and tools, including auto cranes, stud guns, etc.
  • Recognize and assess a variety of well optimization issues, either on own or by calling other technical specialists
  • Uphold and ahere to all GE Quality, EHS and Electrical Safety Standards

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Enroll and/or maintain active enrollment in State approved Apprenticeship program
  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
  • Be in the shop environment a minimum at least 6 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
  • Work with hands, arms and be extremely accurate
  • Lift objects weighing up to 40 ilbs.
  • Specific vision abilities are required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Work in a non-climate controlled environment and in all types of outside weather conditions
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Basic computer skills, such as experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Electrical / electronic equipment experience or education
  • Automation and instrumentation experience
  • Oilfield experience
  • Experience working with variable speed drives
