Role Summary:
As a Design Technologist, you will be responsible for leading front end design and user UX within Drupal 8, BHGE’s CMS of choice & other technologies. You will be working on business critical customer facing web CMS applications such as, the BHGE employee intranet and eCommerce integrated solutions. You will have the opportunity to play a vital part in a brand new and skilled development team and shape the design and user experience of these critical, high visibility applications.

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
Contribute to produce effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering
Demonstrate a strong understanding of Agile / Lean UX methodologies and work as an embedded part of an agile product team
Conduct user-centered research and validation: interviews, in-person observations, user testing
Articulate your own point of view in team discussions relative to current user experience projects
Help conduct research of emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends
Build our shared UI component system, where common product design patterns become reusable artifacts, precision-engineered for web and mobile.
Connect with global design and branding teams to identify and adopt common UI components, practices & standards.
Use generative techniques (sketching, brainstorming, etc.) to establish a variety of possible design decisions and decision scenarios.

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Graphic Design/Media, Industrial Design, Information Systems, Information Management, Human-Computer Interaction; or equivalent industry experience

Minimum 3 years professional experience in UX/UI but usually 5+

Desired Characteristics:
Knowledge of the agile development process
Experience working within a global enterprise organization
Experience working with a Content Management System (Ideally Drupal)
Technical Expertise:

Uses participatory design activities (e.g. paper prototype co-creation, card sorting) to understand vision, business model and assumptions and tacit knowledge about user needs and behaviors.
Creates annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a software application
Skilled in standard design & wireframing tools (Sketch, OmniGraffle, Adobe CC), hand drawing and visual communication, time-based and interactive prototyping tools (Axure, InVision).
Participates in agile product development as integrated part of scrum team.
Basic understanding of Design Thinking and the principles of Atomic Design
Works to create an understanding of how individual people and things fit within larger structures (like systems or organizations), as well as the relationships between parts of a system and the system as a whole.
Expresses UX and design concepts to collaborators on cross functional teams. Goes beyond merely presenting designs, explains the story of the rationale and benefit of design ideas.
Passionate about UI/UX
Solid understanding of React (or other frameworks) and its core principles
Expertise with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
Experience with CSS frameworks like Bootstrap/Foundation
Experience with CSS preprocessors like Saas, less, or stylus
Good understanding of Git, unit and automation testing, CI and CD
