Role Summary:
The COO leads activities and initiatives with broad scope in order to assist the local team successfully meet all customer obligations.

Essential Responsibilities:

    Specifically, the COO will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Monitoring the policies and procedures of the JV to ensure compliance with local Ghana requirements as well as the GE "Spirit and the Letter"
  • Monitoring, preparing and submitting periodic local content status reports to the local government and end customer(s)
  • Assisting the General Manager in the preparation and modification of the business plan for the Ghana JV
  • Managing the letters of invitation, permits and visas of field service engineers or partners that need to visit Ghana
  • Coordinating and dealing with the renewal of the permits, authorizations and licenses required for the JV to operate within Ghana
  • Lead the development of local content strategy and execution in partnership with matrix team members
  • Development of vendor base (in partnership with sourcing department) to provide value added suppliers in execution of scope for customer
  • Assisting the General Manager in the execution of the business plan for the Ghana JV"


  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering is preferred
  • Strong understanding of the local Ghanaian requirements for the Oil & Gas sector
  • Significant Project, Construction, Field Engineering, Operations and/or Contract Management experience
  • High energy level - self-starter
  • Microsoft suite proficiency
  • Sense of urgency in dealing with issues and tasks
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively manage a matrix team / organization
  • Ability to anticipate events and develop adaptive strategies / remedies
  • Strong skills in customer relationship building, facilitation, and matrix management
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leaderships skills
  • Ability to drive and manage change in a dynamic environment
  • Quality and cost driven
  • Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in the role’s location

Desired Characteristics:

  • Willingness and ability to reside in Ghana on a permanent basis
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent from an accredited university or college/or equivalent
  • Proven years of experience in project management or operational role
