Role Summary: The Product Manager – Control Solutions is a key member of the BHGE Control Solutions Product Line team responsible for the development of unit controls. Control Solutions is a $500m business segment that provides support and upgrades to both GE and Non-GE equipment in the Oil & Gas, Power and other industry segments, such as Pulp & Paper.
Essential Responsibilities: As a member of the Control Solutions Product Line team, this individual will be responsible for delivering functional and business objectives in support of the broader company objective. The Unit Controls Product Manager will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, actively participate in the development of long-term planning, lead cross-functionally matrixed team tasked with solving complex issues, and develop a product portfolio that provide compelling customer value while growing the business segment year over year.
In the role of Unit Controls Product Manager – Controls Solutions you will:
Be responsible for the Unit Controls Product Line
Develop and drive short term and long term strategies that grow the Unit Controls business segment
Work with the Oil & Gas and Power Vertical Product Line Leaders to develop new products in collaboration with engineering that have sound business cases and compelling customer value
Partner with the Region Sales Teams to ensure the Op Plans have a robust region market and that the pricing strategy maximizes revenue and contribution margin
Continuously solicit Regional Sales Teams Win/Loss analyses feedback to support the continuous assessment of the Unit Controls product strategy and its ability to meet market demands and trends
Develop “packaged” Unit Controls upgrade offerings to address platform controller card obsolescence issues
Update and communicate the overall product life cycle for the unit controls product line
Work closely with Region Sales Teams to deploy targeted campaigns for convertible orders in the current year
Provide information to populate automated quoting tools (BigMachines)
Lead the development of supporting Marketing and Communication materials
Ensure that productized offerings have the necessary visibility and inclusion in the global commercial team’s op plan by leveraging Compass, Salesforce.com (SFDC), Deal Machine and Tableau tools to identify and convert potential missed sales opportunities
Serve as the primary customer and field sales interface on Inquiry to Order (ITO) related questions through the entire customer proposal process (“R” process). This includes: Proposals, Technical studies, Cost estimates and formal bids
Drive transaction details related to technical, financial, and commercial inputs to support strategy development and risk management processes
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Marketing or Business
Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Generation, Oil & Gas (O&G) and/or Energy sector
Strategic, critical thinking and analytical skills for structured problem-solving
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Emotional maturity to handle ambiguity in a dynamic environment
Proficiency in creating and delivering presentations to sell recommendations
Demonstrate success collaborating with various internal and external constituencies
Master’s Degree – Engineering or Business
Minimum 5 years Product management and/or marketing experience
Minimum 2 years of technical or project management experience
Strong agent of change with focus on executing efficiently in a complex, diverse and dynamic cross-functional global matrix organization
Demonstrate track record in driving profitable business growth
Experience working with global teams and previous global responsibilities
Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
Green Belt certified (GE employees only)
Proficient in PC usage / application
Proficient in Compass, Salesforce.com (SFDC) and Tableau
