Role Summary:
The Shop Technician will report to the shop manager and will play an important role providing service to customers in Shafter/Bakersfield and surrounding area.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Shop Technician – Quinn / BPU , you will:

  • Perform various machine operations and component repairs utilizing mechanical skills & abilities
  • Perform cleaning, tear down, and repair of Beam Pumping Unit Components
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized working environment
  • Interface appropriately with all internal customers
  • Ensure product quality, workmanship and conformance to all applicable processes, requirements and regulatory standards in accordance with the established quality assurance system
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of machines and equipment
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to BHGE Values, Compliance, Integrity and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Perform light to heavy weight material movement and handling as required using cranes and lift trucks
  • Complete required business process documentation as required
  • Be responsible for ensuring facility equipment and tooling is accounted for, operating efficiently, and safety
  • Ensure assigned work areas stay compliant with facility housekeeping requirements and promote a safe working environment
  • Identify and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions that occur during set-up, fit-up, welding, or set-down operations
  • Participate and be actively engaged in quality, Lean, Six sigma improvement projects within your department
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by responsibilities

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a shop environment

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
  • Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and walking, as required
  • Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
  • Lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Be subjected to extreme heat or cold for extended periods of time
  • Work inside and outside, as required and be exposed to machine oils, paints, solvents, or grease
  • Specific vision abilities are required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
  • To the extent that you are applying for a position that requires you to operate a GE owned / leased or rented vehicle for company business, you must be willing to submit to a check of your driving record
