Role Summary:
 

Baker Hughes a GE company has an opening for a Maintenance Engineer supporting our plants located in Taft and Bakersfield, CA.  The Maintenance Engineer will drive equipment reliability and standardization site-wide while also spearheading projects to support the long-term viability of the facility. Essential Responsibilities:
 
  • Supervises employees who perform maintenance and install equipment used in chemical processes.
  • Monitors, reinforces, and oversees health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance of department and employees.
  • Identifies and selects contract personnel who perform specialized maintenance work or who supplement department work.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and resolution of acute and chronic issues that arise within the facility.
  • Assists with equipment selection as part of the effort to standardize equipment throughout the facility.
  • Assists with the scheduling of daily and monthly routine and preventive maintenance activities as well as working with operations department to determine scheduling of equipment that requires a shutdown.
  • Utilizes the computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) for work order resolution, equipment information, and maintenance requirements.
  • Works closely with equipment vendors and suppliers on identifying and ordering specialty equipment or parts and objectively reviewing vendor or supplier performance in terms of service quality and timely response.
  • Understanding of reliability KPI’s, ability to initiate, implement, and monitor site reliability programs
  • Working knowledge of piping specifications and ability to craft engineering standards.
  • Handles small capital projects (<$250,000).
 
Qualifications/Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 6+ years working experience in maintenance or reliability.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge of PSM Processes and Industrial HSE Standards
  • Proven track record in diagnosis, prognostics, and condition based maintenance.
  • Strong ability to influence organization to implement changes.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter capable of achieving results with minimal direction.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and internally inspect equipment, ie. Columns, vessels, etc
  • Ability to relocate within in the continental US
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
 
Desired Characteristics:
 
  • Mechanical engineering degree
  • Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing facility specifically with rotating equipment experience.
  • Experience with Maximo and/or SAP.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME Section VIII, API 510 & 653, ANSI, etc.).
