Role Summary:
Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE) is seeking an entrepreneurial technology leader who will direct the infrastructure strategy across the BHGE Digital Technology (DT) function, leading the modernization of infrastructure technologies and operations capabilities. The successful candidate will translate concepts, develop strategy, implement change, and create programs that support delivery of world-class infrastructure capabilities via organic resources and managed services partners.

Essential Responsibilities:
A dynamic, innovative VP of Infrastructure Services who will be responsible for developing and maintaining the BHGE Digital Technology corporate infrastructure.
In the role of VP of Infrastructure Services, you will:

  • Provide vision and leadership to senior management of DT and be a major contributor to future technology planning
  • Ensure that our DT infrastructure meets and exceeds the demand put upon it by its growing business demand
  • Be responsible for a diverse group of computer professionals that include specialists in system administration, data center operations, contract management, and vendor relations
  • Be a key member of the DT CTO management tea and have budget and personnel responsibilities

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Information Technology
  • Minimum 8 years of leadership and/or management experience relating to system design and development within the infrastructure technology function

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work out of an office based in Houston, Texas.
  • Travel 40%, as required.

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Information Technology, ideally in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred
  • Serve as a key member of the DT management team that sets the company’s strategic technology direction
  • Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills
  • Create plans and provide hands-on support during emergencies, outages, and service transitions
  • Manage to an approved infrastructure budget
  • Negotiate enterprise short-term and long-term software and hardware agreements
  • Develop strategy plans for the direction and management of corporate infrastructure including but not limited to its data centers, servers, and enterprise storage
  • Plan and execute quarterly disaster recovery tests
  • Regularly maintain corporate DT assets
  • Assist in any company audits by internal or external entities
  • Support and enhance cybersecurity policies and procedures
  • Maintain and enhance disaster recovery policies and procedures
  • Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department
  • Assure that department achieves corporate objectives and project completion within budget and timeframe
  • Lead and motivate staff and provide technical direction
  • Ensure day-to-day operations of technology infrastructure
  • Provide leadership, vision, and management to team members
  • Collaborate with on-site associates, remote support staff, project managers, infrastructure system administrators, and developers to achieve project objectives
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, conduct performance evaluations and delegate work assignments
  • Hands-on experience with progressively increasing responsibilities and leadership within all of the following areas: Servers, Network, Storage, IP Phone System and database support, security administration, website/intranet, application/customer support
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor small teams to deliver high quality work
  • Develop and review all backup and disaster recovery procedures and plans
  • Monitor security compliance in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures
  • Responsible for maintenance of systems documentation
  • Perform high-level complex software/hardware troubleshooting and patching
  • Analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions within standards, where applicable
  • Act as mentor to direct reports and subordinate staff
  • Assure technology architecture and solutions conform with current industry technology trends
  • Maintain and improve personal knowledge about hardware, software and network technologies as they pertain to DT infrastructure.
  • Ensure department employees reporting to this position are motivated and challenged in the workplace
  • Ensure each employee works, cooperates with peers within and outside the department, and promote a positive, fulfilling work environment
  • Effectively lead in a global matrix organization across teams and cultures
  • Proven ability to execute high-profile projects and to provide thought leadership to an organization
  • Influential leadership experience with the ability to partner, energize, and inspire
  • Passionate about technology with the pragmatism necessary to solve customer problems and deliver value
  • Excellent vendor/partner management experience dealing with large, complex, global contracts and support structures
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one formal quality system (6 Sigma, LEAN, ITIL, etc.) is strongly desired
