Role Summary:
The Manufacturing Shop Operations Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives for the Transducers/Fabrication team within the GE Bently Nevada Minden facility. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Manufacturing Shop Operations Manager, you will:

  • Provide total cell / group leadership in the attainment of goals and commitments with respect to compliance, safety, quality, fulfillment, and cost
  • Direct process / product improvement programs and provide process method excellence throughout the organization
  • Lead cell / group to achieve goals in delivered quality, on-time to customer want, lead time reduction, work-force utilization, inventory, NPS, and other key business metrics
  • Direct the manufacturing operations in the Transducers/Probes/Machine Shop
  • Develop necessary business plans to enhance requirements such as throughput, labor hours, cycle, cost and productivity
  • Monitor & improve cost productivity through Lean manufacturing methodologies while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality, & compliant manner
  • Ensure sufficient capacity exists to achieve all customer commitments while managing risks and opportunities
  • Structure assigned organization and staff positions with personnel to accomplish business objectives
  • Ensure assigned employees are aware / comply with all GE government, customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations
  • Select, hire, train, develop, and provide ongoing leadership and direction of assigned personnel
  • Provide ongoing supervision and counseling for employees, guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training
  • Foster employee engagement and ensure that business and operational goals are effectively communicated to employees
  • Manage expense and investment budgets to meet business operating plans
  • Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in EHS, customer service, quality, fulfillment, inventory management, and productivity

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related discipline to support supply chain operations from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive supply chain related experience including minimum 2 years of experience leading and managing others

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing policies and regulations established by GE as well as government and other customers
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, and standard cost systems
