Role Summary:
Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for an Assembly, Repair & Maintenance Technician (Completions & Wellbore Intervention) to be based in Mount Pearl, NL.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assembly and maintenance of various completion and fishing tools
  • Perform functional testing on assemblies as well as tests required by the customer’s criteria
  • Operates test equipment ensuring settings and calibration are in compliance with engineering standards
  • Regular use of forklift and overhead crane
  • Decommission and cleaning of tool assemblies and conducting analysis of wear and abuse
  • Refurbishment of tool sub-assemblies within the completions and fishing product lines
  • Administrative tasks including documentation of analysis, repairs, test results etc. as well as preparation of assemblies for shipment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to stand during majority of shift, occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push/pull up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Ability to use hands and wrists repetitively while using hand tools
  • Ability to work overtime hours as needed
  • Ability to work an “on call” rotating weekend schedule as needed
  • Excellent work ethic with the ability to work with minimal supervision and self-driven to complete task timely and accurately
  • Ability to operate forklift and overhead crane in accordance to bhge safety policy
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills along with the ability to work well with others as well as an individual
Desired Characteristics:
  • Mechanical/Technical diploma would be an asset
  • Technical Degree in Mechanical design is strongly preferred
  • 1-3 years experience with SAP
  • 1-3 years of oil and gas industry experience
  • Previous experience with mechanical assembly in a fabrication facility or machine shop
  • Good computer skills including experience with programs such as MS Office and AutoCAD
