The Principal Data Scientist – Systems will be a key member of the Data Science & Analytics team in BHGE Digital. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of analytics products that conform to world class technology principles and maximize re-use and commercial opportunity. You will work closely with Product Management & Strategy teams and will be responsible for shaping technology, product, and service road maps for system level analytics in alignment with business strategy. Essential Responsibilities: Develop system level analytics strategy for the Oil & Gas industry and deliver differentiation for our products.
Provide thought leadership for system level analytics for enterprise-grade applications
Participate in data science workouts to shape analytics opportunities and identify use cases to create customer value
Guide cross-functional teams to translate algorithms into commercially viable products and services.
Investigate and apply system level analytics using machine learning and deep learning techniques to create outcome summaries, and create high-fidelity modeling capabilities for various business KPIs.
Guide technical teams in development, deployment and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics.
Architect and design self-learning systems that can predict failures and optimization techniques based on information learned from a variety of data sources such as time series, text, images and videos.
Work with the engineering team to incorporate your analyses and solutions, including working with the visualization team to create intuitive UI and rich UX stories. Partner with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and data analytics efforts
Gather and analyze data, devise innovative data science solutions and build prototypes to enable development of high-performance algorithms for solutions in scalable, product-ready code.
Initiate and propose unique and promising analytics product features, develop new and innovative algorithms and technologies, pursuing patents where appropriate
Stay current on published state-of-the-art algorithms and competing technologies.
Contribute to the development of software and analytics delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components across teams (multiple teams) that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in product development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios.
Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain.
Basic Qualifications:Ph.D. in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 15 years analytics development for industrial applications in a commercial/industrial setting
Legal authorization to work in the US is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
Technical Expertise: Proven experience in system analytics techniques and frameworks including deep learning frameworks
Strong implementation experience with high-level languages and frameworks such as Python or R
Strong hands-on skills in sourcing, cleaning, manipulating and analyzing large volumes of data
Experience with end-to-end modeling projects, from research to solutions to analytics products
Demonstrated expertise in translating customer need into data and analytics requirements
Demonstrated expertise in the design, development, verification, and validation of descriptive, applied, predictive, and prescriptive analytics for industrial applications
Demonstrated expertise in one or more development tools and languages (e.g., R, Python)
Demonstrated expertise in one or more industry sectors where BHGE operates (i.e., Upstream, Midstream, Downstream)
Domain Knowledge:Proven experience in using well-established supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods for large industrial-strength data analysis problems.
Demonstrated and externally recognized expertise in system level modeling
