Role Summary:
Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for a Welder supporting 2nd Shift for our Emmott Road facility in Houston, Texas in Completion & Wellbore Intervention product line. This product line includes completion; and intelligent production and intervention solutions that help manage cost and reduce risk while maximizing recovery. The product line provides a comprehensive line of completion systems, which maximize performance and safety from the reservoir to the surface. Production optimization services include permanent monitoring, chemical automation, and intelligent production systems. Wellbore intervention solutions address issues ranging from temporary well abandonment and fishing to casing exits, wellbore cleaning, and isolation, remediation and stimulation operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual and in-process inspections in accordance with API and ISO quality specifications
  • Helps facilitate the team in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solving welding problems that enhance through-put within the work team
  • Learns skills to pass periodic welding tests and qualifications in compliance with qualification procedures 
  • Under direct supervision, performs simple, basic welding application
  • Understanding of the performance of visual and in-process inspections in accordance with API and ISO quality specifications
  • Supports the team and team's objectives
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to read blue prints
  • 5 years of experience in performing welding processes
  • Previous ASME Section IX welding code experience
  • Competent to follow intricate welding procedures
  • A thorough working knowledge of welding symbols and their meaning
  • Experience with performance of visual and in-process inspections in accordance with API and ISO quality specifications
  •  The ability to be proactive in regards to safety and to actively participate in a perfectly safe work environment
  • Candidates must be available to work 2nd shift from 2pm to 10pm and overtime, weekends, and holidays, if required.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US, for any employer, without sponsorship.
Desired Characteristics:
  • 1 to 3 years’ previous experience in related oilfield position
  • Previous experience (certification) with GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and/or SMAW processes
  • Previous experience with programmable welding and cutting equipment
