Role Summary:
Baker Hughes, a GE company is offering the exciting opportunity as a Mechanical Tester to be part of the Completion and Wellborn Intervention team at our Navigation facility in Houston, TX. The mechanical tester performs functional testing on assemblies per engineering and customer requirements to ensure perfect quality is maintained.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Able to read assembly drawings/bill of materials.
  • Focuses on testing of products to fulfill the production schedule and manufacturing requirements.
  • Ensure all products are assembled & tested to meet the quality standards in accordance with procedures, engineering specifications, drawings, work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Transact material, process orders, and open work instructions via computer.
  • Supports any other activities/tasks as required to complete or meet performance, quality, and/or delivery targets.
  • Maintain an organized / visual workspace.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of mechanical or mechanic experience.
  • Good mechanical background.
  • Self-starter and the desire to lead others in work efforts.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material moving equipment.
  • Work in a hands-on environment and able to safely lift 30 pounds
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to follow formal procedures and maintenance practices. 
  • Ability to read and understand the English language.  
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.  
  • Good mechanical aptitude.  
  • Basic computer skills.  
  • Good communication skills.  
  • Must be able to work 2nd Shift 2:30pm – 10:30pm.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US, for any employer, without sponsorship
Desired Characteristics:
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of departmental equipment, machines, hand tools and power tools needed for assembly.
  • 3+ years of mechanical experience.
  • Mechanical experience with oil tools.
