Role Summary:
Baker Hughes, a GE company is searching for a Manufacturing Specialist to support various manufacturing processes and provide support for continuous process improvement projects at our Emmott Road facility in Houston, TX. This role focuses on design work, product improvement, process improvement, tooling fabrication, equipment support, and layout optimization. This team based role is required to work closely with operators and process owners for various manufacturing functions. Outside vendor interaction is also greatly utilized.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Execution of Capital Expenditure Projects, i.e. Layout Optimization,
  • Set up processes and equipment for new Product lines
  • Design Tooling and Fixtures
  • Support Safety First initiatives
  • Coordinate Engineering/Product Changes
  • Support process development and production in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Eliminate equipment and tooling downtime and reducing scrap
  • Continuous improvement projects implementation
  • Increase uptime & product quality
  • Handles special Projects as assigned
  • Associate's Degree with 1+ years of experience with tooling, fixtures, and/or machining within a manufacturing environment  OR High School diploma or Ged with 3+ years of experience with tooling, fixtures, and/or machining within a manufacturing environment 
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills coupled with experience in project management
  • Highly organized with ability to keep track of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to solve routine engineering/process improvement tasks and manage small projects with minimal assistance
  • Previous machining or assembly experience
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be able to work in a high stress environment with tight deadlines
  • Must be able to work within a team based environment
  • Excellent computer skills
Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, or other engineering software a plus
  • Experience with SAP is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, or experience with ongoing school work towards a degree
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certifications highly desired
