The Staff Data Scientist - System of Systems will work in teams addressing statistical, machine learning and data understanding problems in a commercial technology and consultancy development environment. In this role, they will contribute to the development and deployment of modern machine learning, operational research, semantic analysis, and statistical methods for finding structure in large data sets. Essential Responsibilities:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, passionate about technology to join the BHGE Digital team as Staff Data Scientist – System-of-Systems. As the Staff Data Scientist, this role will focus on developing impactful and innovative analytics products for the O&G industry. The candidate will be responsible for designing analytics for products and solutions, leverage strong engineering expertise to develop new analytics for driving growth in asset, application & industry coverage and lead engagements with external/internal customers. The candidate is also expected to mentor other engineers in analytics and system of system methods.Lead system-of-system analytics framework development, working closely with analytics researchers, data scientists, mechanical, electrical, petroleum and chemical engineers
Work with Product Managers and technical staff in customer engagements to understand user needs and define requirements for the analytics development and productization
Develop, verify, and validate analytics to address customer needs and opportunities.
Work alongside software developers and software engineers to translate algorithms into commercially viable products and services.
Work in technical teams in development, deployment, and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.
Work with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and data analytics
Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams for evangelizing industrial analytics products.
Serve as a thought leader externally and internally, providing guidance on best practices, industry trends, and future potential for industrial analytics.
Be able to influence from both a strategic and technical standpoint across the function and business. Ability to influence at the peer and senior leadership level is critical.
Basic Qualifications:Master’s Degree in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 5 years analytics development for industrial applications in a commercial/industrial setting OR
Ph.D. in a “STEM” major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 1 year analytics development for industrial applications in a commercial/industrial setting
Eligibility Requirements: Legal authorization to work in the US is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated skills with applied probability theory, stochastic processes, network theory, decision theory, linear and non-linear programing, and dynamic optimization applied to industrial systems.
Demonstrated skills with big data interactive exploration.
Demonstrated experience coding in some of the Machine Learning/AI techniques including Support Vector Machines, Regularization Techniques, Boosting, Random Forests, Ensemble Methods, Bayesian modeling, time series modeling, Deep Learning techniques
Demonstrated skill in data management methods, data preprocessing techniques, data imputation and data wrangling.
Experience working with containers (Docker)
Demonstrated skill in the use of one or more analytic software tools or languages (e.g., Python, C, R)
Demonstrated skill at data cleansing, data quality assessment, and using analytics for data assessment
Demonstrated expertise in modeling and in the development and application of descriptive, applied, and predictive analytics on industrial datasets
Domain Knowledge:MS in Operations Research or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
Demonstrated skill with O&G operations, processes and systems.
Demonstrated skill in large scale engineering and econometric simulations.
Leadership: Demonstrated skill at working in a team setting
